LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Operations have closed to the public at the Southern Nevada Family Justice Center (FJC) in the wake of the COVID-19 viral epidemic.
This is one of several closures over the last few days made by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to protect the public and its employees from spreading the fast-moving virus.
The FJC, located at 861 N. Mojave Road (on the southwest corner of Mojave and Washington), served 765 victims last year.
The first of its kind facility is a centralized place that assists victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Despite the closure to the public, the center will still serve victims by processing Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs), Victims of Crime Applications, providing legal aid for people with custody disputes and divorce filings. They will continue working to locate shelters and find rental assistance for victims in need.
The center will still serve victims over the phone by calling 702-828-7714, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., or email VictimServices@lvmpd.com
The FJC is a collaborative effort between the LVMPD and LVMPD detectives and victim advocates, Safe Nest, the Rape Crisis Center, La Alianza Comunitaria Transnacional, the Salvation Army and Seeds of Hope, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas Justice Court, Las Vegas City Attorney’s Office, and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.
While Clark County’s Harbor Juvenile Assessment Center is located in the same building as the Family Justice Center, it will remain open.
