LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the City of Henderson is cancelling large community events currently scheduled through the end of April.
While health professionals continue to advise that the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains low in Southern Nevada, the City is taking a proactive approach to protect the health and safety of the Henderson community by cancelling events where large groups of people would gather in close proximity.
The City of Henderson parks and sports fields will remain open and recreation centers will continue to offer classes and activities and provide information on COVID-19 preventative measures. The City’s Safekey program, which provides before- and after-school activities at all Henderson elementary schools, will continue to operate.
Health professionals emphasize that COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that is spread through contact with a sick person. The City encourages residents to take preventative measures which include frequent hand washing, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing and avoiding contact with people who are sick.
