BOULDER CITY, Nevada – The National Park Service responded to a possible drowning at Boulder Beach on Tuesday.

Just before 4:30pm, the park received a call saying that an adult male was seen going underwater at the Boulder Beach swim area after swimming after an inflatable raft.

Bystanders pulled the male from the water and began CPR. Rangers responded and took over patient care. The victim was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. He was not wearing a life jacket.

There are fatalities every year at the park from people swimming after inflatable pool toys and rafts. Rangers urge visitors to secure their inflatables during high winds.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim’s identity and determine the cause of death. The incident is under investigation by the National Park Service.
