LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The Annual "Munchies For The Military" food drive is in its final day of accepting donations.
Donations are being accepted through Friday at drop-off locations including various locations within Inspirada, as well neighboring schools and City of Henderson locations. You can get a complete list of donation locations by clicking here. Wish list items include breakfast items, snack foods, beef jerky, nuts, dried fruit, protein and granola bars and wet wipes.
Once again this year, the Inpsirada Master-Planned Community in Henderson is sponsoring "Munchies For The Military". 2020 marks the 6th year of the donation event.
The drive was founded by the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation in honor of SPC Douglas J. Green, who was killed in action during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2011. The drive aims to collect items for care packages, which will be mailed to active service men and women who are deployed overseas.
This goal for 2020 is to assemble 500 care packages that will be assembled by volunteers at Liberty High School this Saturday.
Community members can also contribute by making monetary donations, which will help offset the cost of postage - approximately $17 per box. Donations can be made online.
