LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A Nevada Department of Public Safety Officer is on paid adminstrative leave after he was involved in a shooting last week.
According to a statement from the DPS, last Wednesday night, Parole and Probation Officer Alex Salgado arrived at his home in the northwest Valley and noticed the kitchen door to the backyard was opened.
Salgado heard voices coming from a bedroom and an unidentified black male adult fleeing through the back door.
A second black male adult ran into Officer Salgado as he attempted to flee, then suddenly turned back toward Salgado.
Salgado pulled out his firearm and gave verbal commands to stop as he identified himself as police before he fired one round, striking the suspect. The suspect fled out the back door.
A third suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Jaylin Turner, exited the bathroom and was taken into custody without incident. Detectives are currently working on the identification and apprehension of the two outstanding suspects.
Turner was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges for burglary and home invasion.
Salgado is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation. This is an ongoing investigation.
