LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - All states have at least partially reopened after keeping non-essential businesses closed for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, some states have recently chosen to pause their reopening processes due to spikes in the disease, and some local areas have even closed down again. Nevada, forced certain bars is seven counties that have seen an upward trend in coronavirus cases to close until the numbers start to improve.
In order to determine the states with the fewest coronavirus restrictions despite a surge in cases across the U.S., the financial website WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 18 key metrics, ranging from whether child-care programs and restaurants have reopened to whether the state has required face masks in public and workplace temperature screenings.
Nevada currently sits in 24th place, dropping four spots on the "freedom scale" from last week. No doubt the recent closure of the bars in 7 counties had something to do with the drop.
Craving more freedom? Head to the Badlands. South Dakota remains far and away the state with the fewest restrictions, according to the WalletHub study.
Think restrictions need to be tightened? Then California's the place you ought to be. The Golden State ran away with the top honor (?) in the study.
