
LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - A man wielding a sword was shot and killed by Metro Police at an apartment complex near Boulder Station Tuesday morning.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., LVMPD received a call regarding a man causing a disturbance at an apartment complex located in the 3000 block of Sandhill Road.
Arriving officers observed the suspect shouting from the top of an outside staircase armed with a sword. Officers began talking to the suspect in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
The man continued to shout and began walking down the stairs. Officers gave verbal commands to the suspect to put down the sword. Once the suspect reached the bottom of the stairs, he advanced aggressively towards the officers while still armed with the sword. As they retreated, one officer fired striking the suspect. The man was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
This is the seventh officer involved shooting of 2020. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved will be released after 48 hours.
