LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - The Clark County Department of Aviation has learned two employees at McCarran International Airport have tested presumptive positive for COVID-19.
Both self-reported their conditions and each is currently at home and under self-quarantine.
The first most recently worked at McCarran on Thursday, March 26; the second most recently worked on Friday, March 27. The individuals did not work in close proximity with one another, and were assigned to different shifts in different areas of the airport.
Their work areas continue to be fully sanitized using hospital- grade disinfectants. We have also begun to reach out to those who may have been in close contact with these persons. Based on their work assignments, county aviaition officials say they have no reason to believe either had prolonged exposure to the traveling public.
We understand this may increase concern among our workforce and travelers. Protocols for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 remain in place, and the Department of Aviation is following recommended practices to mitigate the adverse effects of the virus while remaining open as a provider of essential air transportation services.
In an effort to help everyone adhere to social distancing practices, the airport and its partners ask that only ticketed air passengers and those employees needed to serve them enter the airport terminals.
Officials say they will continue to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Southern Nevada Health District to monitor the situation as well as the health and safety of our employees and the traveling public.
