LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Drivers may experience significant delays along the 215 in the southwest valley this weekend due to an ongoing repaving and highway widening project there.
Southbound 215 traffic will be reduced to one lane between Summerlin Parkway and Flamingo for most of Saturday. Then on Sunday, northbound 215 traffic will be limited to one lane between Durango and Charleston. Drivers should also expect single lane closures along parts of the 215 in this area on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, as well as temporary 215 off-ramp closures Saturday morning.
The 215 typically has three lanes in each direction in this area, although an ongoing widening project will make it four lanes in each direction early next year.
The timing of the closures is necessary to ensure it is warm enough when crews are laying new pavement, which is temperature sensitive. Doing the work with significant lane closures over the long weekend was preferred to conducting the work over several weeks.
This work is part of a project to widen and repave the 215 from Tropicana to Charleston, which is expected to be finished in a year.
