Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – One person was killed and two other were hurt after a nasty crash in the south Valley early Wednesday.
Police say that around 1:45am, two cars were racing eastbound on Silverado Ranch when they made contact and wrecked. One car rotated and crossed into the westbound travel lanes, where it left the road and struck a retaining wall. The second car rotated and continued east, leaving the road to the south, striking a light pole and large tree with its passenger side.
The passenger in the car that struck a tree, identified only as a 26-year-old woman, died at the scene. Both drivers were taken into custody for reckless driving. Police say they believe the driver of the second car (the one that struck the tree) was impaired, but that the driver of the first car was not.
Wednesday’s incident marked the 28th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction so far in 2024.
