
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – An elderly man and a 9-year-old girl were killed over the weekend is separate crashes where, in both cases, impairment is suspected.
The first crash happened around 4pm Sunday in North Las Vegas at the intersection of Ann and Simmons. Police say the driver of a Corvette was attempting to make a left turn against the red traffic light but was struck by a driver that had the right of way but couldn’t stop in time. A 9-year-old girl in the Corvette died.
The driver of the Corvette, 63-year-old Christine Sorenson, was arrested on charges of DUI resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in death, and child endangerment resulting in death.
The second crash occurred Sunday afternoon at Desert Inn and Lindell.
In that incident, police say that a driver ran a red light and slammed into a car that had the green. The 68-year-old driver who had the green light was killed.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 27-year-old Nakira Pray, showed signs of impairment and was arrested on charges of DUI and failure to stop for a red traffic light.
