Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Two CCSD elementary schools canceled classes on Friday in the latest incident where too many staff called off sick to cover.
The latest schools hit by sickouts were Givens and Sewell Elementary. Parents were notified before classes began on Friday that there would be no school due to excessive staff absences.
CCSD and the union that represents teachers have been at odds over a new contract. More talks are scheduled for next week. The Clark County Education Association says that the contract squabble has nothing to do with the sickouts, citing a high number of job vacancies that need to be filled instead.
There’s no school for CCSD on Monday, which is a Staff Development Day for teachers.
