Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A staff member at Von Tobel Middle School is expected to recover after being shot on Monday. Both Von Tobel and nearby Jeffers Elementary near Pecos and Carey were placed on hard lockdown Monday after the shooting.
It happened outside of the school around 12:30pm. Police say that a campus security monitor may have been struck by a stray bullet that was fired from a car that was out in front of the school. The wounds are not considered to be life-threatening.
Tuesday morning, Metro announced that they had arrested an 18-year-old man in the case. That person was identified as Jessie Rios. Metro is expected to release more detail in the case on Tuesday.
