
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man with firing the shot that struck a security monitor outside Von Tobel Middle School near Pecos and Carey Monday afternoon.
Investigators say that 18-year-old Jessie Rios as involved in some sort of dispute with someone a few blocks away from the school and fired a weapon several times. One of those bullets ended up striking the security monitor. That person, whose identity has yet to be released, is expected to be ok.
Immediately following the shooting Von Tobel and nearby Jeffers Elementary were placed on a hard lockdown as Metro and CCSD Police worked to figure out the scene.
Rios faces more than two-dozen charges, including attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a gun within a structure/vehicle within a prohibited area. At an initial court appearance on Wednesday, a judge set Rios' bail at $100,000
