Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Las Vegas already is home to one former Oakland sports franchise. Could another be on the horizon?

Representatives with the Oakland Athletics plan to visit Las Vegas next week as they search for a potential new place to call home.

A's president Dave Kaval will travel with team officials to explore relocating from the Oakland Coliseum after their lease expires in 2024. Although the team's motto is "Rooted in Oakland", the A's are unhappy with the current ballpark that has been the team's home since 1968. The Athletics have also explored other sites in Oakland, but without success.

The team is also said to be considering moves to five other cities: Portland, Oregon; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; along with Vancouver and Montreal, in Canada.

Though Henderson often comes up in conversations as a place for the A’s to land, team officials don’t plan on visiting that area.
