According to Nevada State Police, the pedestrian was struck just after 3am. Why the person was out on the freeway isn’t yet known, and their identity hasn't been released.
Investigators say that several vehicles hit the person. All of those who made contact stayed on the scene, and NSP says impairment by any of those drivers is suspected.
Traffic in the area was forced off at the eastbound Flamingo exit for more than 10 hours, with the freeway finally opening back up around 1:30pm.
