Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The Las Vegas Valley Water District has given residents up in Kyle Canyon a ‘boil water’ order due to an emergency water system outage caused by storm and flood water.
Flooding in the area caused a severe leak in the Kyle Canyon Water System, resulting in major reservoir tanks losing water pressure.
The LVVWD is urging all Kyle Canyon residents to boil tap water before using it for drinking, food prep, brushing teeth, washing dishes or making ice.
The order is in place until further notice as crews work to patch the leak.
In addition to the boil water order, a portion of State Route 157 (Kyle Canyon Road) was washed away by flooding south of State Route 158 (Deer Creek Road). Nevada DOT says the road is closed to give crews time to evaluate the damage and make the needed repairs.
No estimate was given for when the road will re-open.
