Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Two Boulder City parents face charges in the death of their 8-month child back in November.

According to the Boulder City Police Department, back on November 15th, Boulder City Police and Fire responded to a call of an infant who wasn’t breathing. The child was taken to St. Rose Siena Hospital in Henderson, but was pronounced deceased.

The Clark County Coroner learned that the child’s cause of death was “a result of fentanyl toxicity” with another significant condition of “recent methamphetamine exposure”

BCPD Detectives conducted interviews with both parents. During their respective interviews, both parents disclosed that the child had been exposed to a mixture of methamphetamine and fentanyl after the father had spilled a bag of fentanyl mixed with methamphetamine on their bed, and later allowed the child to crawl on the same bed where the substances were spilled.

On June 16th, police arrested both Jeffrey Terakami and Kara Marie Dugan and charged them with 2nd degree murder. Both are currently in the Clark County Detention Center.
