Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A sad end to the search for a 2-year-old boy missing since last Wednesday.
Metro Police have arrested the boyfriend of the mother of Amari Nicholson and charged him with the boy’s murder.
At a press conference Tuesday, Metro said suspicion grew over the weeklong investigation about the boyfriend, Terrell Rhodes. Rhodes is said to have eventually confessed to Amari’s mother he killed the boy, but the circumstances surrounding why it happened still hasn’t been said, nor did police say if they recovered the boy’s body.
Rhodes had been telling investigators that he had given the boy to his girlfriend’s sister, which the sister had adamantly denied.
Also at the Tuesday afternoon presser, Metro said that as they were trying to take Rhodes into custody a fight broke out and that Rhodes was briefly able to take an officer’s weapon. Metro says that situation was quickly diffused.
On Wednesday, police say they found Amari's body not far from where the boy was last seen.
