Jara, who has been the CCSD’s superintendent since 2018, was dismissed “for convenience”, meaning no reason had to be given for the termination.

The very same board recently voted to extend Jara’s contract through January 15th of 2023.

Following the vote, Jara read a statement that said, in part “My focus on student well-being and academic improvement has not wavered. Unfortunately, a majority of the trustees did not share that vision and this community and our children will suffer because of it.”

Jara then left the meeting.

Another item on the agenda, a vote to strip Linda Cavazos of her title as School Board President, was tabled for a later date.
