Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - An ongoing shortage of bus drivers has caused officials with the Clark County School District to alter some schools' athletic schedules.

"The District is committed to providing students ongoing access to athletics for this school year," the notice from CCSD states. "While managing COVID-19 mitigation protocols to optimize the health and safety of student-athletes during practices and competitions, our transportation resources and staffing for busses are being impacted like so many school districts across the country."
Included in the changes is the elimination of all non-conference matches, removing mid-week cross country events, scheduling tennis, B team and junior varsity football for Saturdays, and starting boys' and girls' soccer matches at 4:30 p.m.
Schools will announce changes specific to their teams as they take place.
CCSD says canceling practices and competitions is a last resort.
CCSD has been short of drivers since fall semester began on August 9th, causing some students to be dropped off at school hours after school began for the day. The District says it is looking to hire more than 200 more drivers.
