Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The Clark County School District will be going to court to try and stop what they claim are coordinated “sickouts” by teachers and staff.
Since the start of the school year, there have been eight instances where classes were affected because of excessive staff absences. On Tuesday, students at Southeast Career and Technical Academy, Twitchell Elementary and Rogich Middle School. were told to stay home.
CCSD and the Clark County Education Association have been at odds over a new contract, and the District says that those sickouts are a response. The CCEA had earlier said they would take some sort of “work actions” in response to the contract stalemate, but says the incidents are unrelated to the contract negotiations.
A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Wednesday. Meanwhile, contract talks between the teachers union and district resumed on Monday.
