Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – It’s been a rough month of April for law enforcement K-9s in southern Nevada.
A pair of Clark County School District Police K-9s are expected to make a full recovery after being exposed to illegal drugs during a property search earlier this week.
According to CCSDPD, K9s Ace and Peppermint were assisting with a search warrant for another law enforcement agency looking for drugs and weapons. The property did not belong to CCSD.
Both of the dogs found a mix of illegal drugs and were quickly removed when they experienced reactions.
CCSDPD administered NARCAN on scene, which helped the dogs begin to recover.
Both Ace and Peppermint spent the night in the animal hospital for treatment and observation, and were both released Thursday morning.
Police released no details about what type of drugs that the dogs were exposed to, nor whether the discovery led to any arrests.
Back on April 1st, Metro K-9 officer Enzo was stabbed multiple times while trying to subdue a suspect. Enzo was airlifted for emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Enzo was allowed to go home this week.
