Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Clark County School District Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara wants out.
The boss of the nation’s 5th-largest school district submitted his resignation on Wednesday. The matter will be taken up next week when the Clark County School District Board of Trustees meets.
Jara’s current deal runs through June of 2026, and he’s seeking a buyout.
Jara has been the CCSD’s Superintendent since 2018. His tenure has been marked by tension and in-fighting, including criticism over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic for students, and seemingly never-ending battles with both the school board and teachers’ union.
Jara was actually fired by the board back in 2021, only to have that decision overturned when one of the board members changed their vote.
