
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Businesses in the city of Las Vegas are now eligible to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to reimburse pre-approved costs of improving security at their location.
The program provides financial assistance for securing buildings by adding permanent fencing, exterior security cameras, exterior lighting, doors, locks, shatter-proof security glass, heater/air conditioner security enclosure, or other security measures.
Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
In order to qualify, properties must be located in the city of Las Vegas and be within one of two designated redevelopment areas:
· Redevelopment Area 1 encompasses 3,948 acres. The area generally includes the greater downtown Las Vegas area east of Interstate 15, south of Washington Avenue, north of Sahara Avenue and west of Maryland Parkway. It also includes the corridors along Charleston Boulevard, Martin L.
King Jr. Boulevard and Eastern Avenue.
· Redevelopment Area 2 spans almost 1,050 acres covering Sahara from Interstate 15 to Decatur Boulevard, Charleston from Rancho Drive to Rainbow Boulevard and Decatur from Sahara to U.S. 95/I-11.
Additionally, the business must possess a current, active business license issued by the city of Las Vegas. Finally, properties with multiple retail tenants and/or vacant storefronts will be limited to one grant per storefront.
Ineligible properties include single-family residential and multi-family residential properties not part of a larger mixed-use development and businesses that hold non-restricted gaming licenses (restaurants may qualify).
