Specifically, heavy traffic on Main Street has created a significant disruption to the flow of traffic in the area. The problem comes from drivers who stop illegally on Main Street between Ogden and Carson avenues to drop off, pick up or wait for passengers.

To help mitigate this issue, the city of Las Vegas has formed a task force comprised of representatives from several city departments, the Taxi Authority, the Nevada Transportation Authority, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Circa and The Plaza hotel-casino. As a result, several traffic and enforcement solutions will be implemented:

New street markings at the intersection of Main and Fremont streets

Installation of new regulatory signage

Installation of U-turn barriers

Clear designation for the area’s pickup/drop-off location

Increased fines in this marked zone

Dedicated parking enforcement during peak times.

A joint enforcement effort will be carried out Friday from approximately 6 p.m. to midnight.

This joint enforcement effort will occur periodically throughout the coming months. A dedicated parking enforcement officer will be permanently scheduled on site beginning Friday to monitor and enforce at this location Thursday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
