
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - County Commission Chairman Marilyn Kirkpatrick is hosting a Recovery Resource Fair and training session on how to help someone who is experiencing a drug overdose from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at the Clark County Government Center, downtown.
The Opioid Overdose Reversal Kit Training will begin at 1 p.m. in Commission Chambers in the County Government Center. In addition, the Southern Nevada Health District will be providing free, rapid tests for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.
“Opioid addiction and abuse are serious problems for our community and our country,” Commission Chairman Kirkpatrick said. “On Opioid Awareness Day our community will come together to show our support for those struggling with addiction and their family and friends. We have many resources that can help those living through this crisis, and special training so people can be prepared for the worst.”
The Recovery Resource Fair will feature organizations that deal with drug addiction and other issues including the Foundation for Recovery, CrossRoads and the Health District. The resource fair and training session are both free to attend. Also, Chair Kirkpatrick will proclaim Tuesday, July 27, Opioid Awareness Day in Clark County.
The overdose reversal training is for adults 18 and over and will focus on a variety of topics including Nevada’s Good Samaritan Law and how to recognize and respond to an overdose. Everyone who completes the training will be provided with a free opioid overdose reversal kit.
