Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police are looking for the person or persons who left a dead dog in a cage.

The cage with the dog inside was discovered behind an apartment complex near Charleston and Eastern on Friday morning.

Based on the state of the animal, Metro said that they believe that dog had been dead for awhile. They stopped short of calling the matter a clear case on animal abuse, and are asking those responsible for leaving the dog there to step forward.

The Nevada Legislature recently passed a bill toughening punishments for animal cruelty. The bill was nicknamed “Reba’s Law” in honor of an English bulldog whi was abandoned in the heat last year. Reba died the day after she was discovered.

Metro is asking anyone with any information about this incident to contact the LVMPD Animal Cruelty Detail by phone at 702-828-3364. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers (702-385-5555, www.crimestoppersofnv.com).
