Death of Henderson inmate ruled as a homicide

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The Clark County Coroner has ruled that an inmate at the Henderson Detention who passed away shortly after his arrest died from injuries suffered when police attempted to take him into custody.

53-year-old Ronald Winborne died on March 27th. 6 days after his arrest. Police were originally called to a neighborhood near Greenway and Horizon on reports of a man swinging a knife.

When police arrived, they say Winborne had a knife in his hand and pointed it at officers. Police then tased him and were able to take him into custody.

Six days after his arrest, Winborne’s health began to decline. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital, but died later that day.

The names of the officers involved in Winborne’s arrest have not been identified as the investigation continues.
