Tyson Hampton is charged with the shooting death of Officer Truong Thai last October. Thai was shot after Hampton was pulled over near Flamingo and University Center. Officers had been called to the area on reports of a domestic disturbance involving Hampton.

While many people are serving time on Nevada’s death row, the state hasn’t actually performed an execution since 2006.

A hearing in Hampton’s case is scheduled for Thursday.
