Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Heavy rains from the remnants of Tropical Storm Hilary devastated the Spring Mountains a couple of weekends ago, and Nevada Department of Transportation crews are kicking it into high gear to try and get roads repaired before winter driving conditions settle in.
N-DOT announced Tuesday that emergency construction has begun on State Route 157 (Kyle Canyon Road). Several sections of the road were washed away by the heavy rain.
Work will happen each day from sunrise to sunset, even on weekends and holidays.
Right now, Kyle Canyon Road is open only to residents and work crews. Visitors are turned away at State Route 158 (Deer Creek Road).
N-DOT is encouraging residents to use Kyle Canyon Road for essential travel only.
Visitors are currently not allowed, but Metro Police released a tweet Tuesday that said people are coming up anyway.
Work on Deer Creek Road is set to begin in early September.
The road is currently closed between Kyle and Lee Canyon Roads.
State Route 156 (Lee Canyon Road) is closed at U.S. 95. No timetable was given for whatever work needs to be done on that stretch of road.
