Fallen Nevada troopers honored with highway memorial signs

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Nevada State Police joined the families of Sergeant Michael Abbate & Trooper Alberto Felix as memorial signs developed by The Nevada Department of Transportation were unveiled Monday to honor the pair who died in the line of duty last November.

Trooper Felix's sign is near Craig Rd & Nellis Air Force Base where he served in the US Air Force before joining the Department, while Sergeant Abbate's sign is near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, recognizing his racing days & contributions as the department's leading emergency vehicle driver instructor.

The two were killed when they were both struck by a drunk driver while stopped on a call on the Washington exit from 15 North.

That driver, Jemarcus Williams, was sentenced last week to 16 to 40 years in prison.
