
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A former Eldorado High School student pled guilty to reduced charges stemming from an attack that bad injured a teacher at the school in April of 2022.
Now 17-year-old Jonathan Martinez-Garcia pleaded guilty to attempted murder, attempted sexual assault, and battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm. Under the plea deal, his other charges were dismissed. Martinez-Garcia was 16 when the attack occurred.
Police say that Martinez-Garcia had gone to the teacher’s class to ask about missed assignments and became upset with the teachers comments. Police say he then attacked the teacher to the point where she was knocked unconscious. The teacher had to spend a week in the hospital recovering from her injuries.
Martinez-Garcia’s sentencing is scheduled for June 5th. In spite of his age, he was charged as an adult, and faces 2 to 20 years in prison.
