Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A former firefighter with the North Las Vegas Fire Department was arrested by Henderson Police on murder charges this week.

The case goes back to February 23rd of 2020, when Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the 800 block of Coronado Center Drive in reference to a 25-year-old female, later identified as Tiffany Slatsky, who was not conscious and not breathing.

A joint investigation between the Henderson Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (Las Vegas District Office identified the suspect responsible for the death of Slatsky to be 33-year-old Christopher Candito, and on June 30th of this year, a warrant for the arrest of Candito was submitted for the charges of Murder and Burglary.

On Wednesday, Candito was taken into custody and booked into the Henderson Detention Center.

The warrant for Candito alleges that in 2019 he and another city firefighter engaged in a conspiracy to distribute large “quantities of oxycodone, oxycontin, Trenbolone and morphine.”

On Feb. 21, 2020, police said, Candito and Slatsky attended an all-night party with fellow North Las Vegas firefighters. The couple continued to drink and party throughout the next day, leading to Slatsky’s overdose.

The report goes on to say that Candito and Slatsky went to another NLV fire station to obtain Narcan and other medical supplies to help Slatsky’s state, but she never recovered.

A coroner ruled Slatsky’s death an accidental overdose.
