Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Details are starting to emerge from a police standoff in Henderson that kept a neighborhood shut down for most of last weekend.

Police were originally called to a home on Callen Falls Avenue near Galleria Drive and Water Street on Friday morning to serve a warrant, but the suspect barricaded himself in his home and refused to come out.

Henderson Police said the man was armed and making suicidal statement, so both S.W.A.T. and a crisis negotiation team were brought in.

On Saturday morning, S.W.A.T. team made entry into the residence and gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and S.W.A.T.  Neither the officer nor the suspect were wounded, and the standoff continued.

Early on Sunday, officers again made entry into the home and found the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Trevor Cooper, dead. Police say he died from a drug overdose.

More information is expected to be released over the next few days.
