Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The Southern Nevada community put the “action” in Hunger Action Month this past September, helping to raise nearly $295,000 for Three Square Food Bank. As a result, the nonprofit will provide 884,262 meals to food-insecure Southern Nevadans.

“We surpassed the total funds raised last year by more than $95,000, nearly tripling the number of meals that will go to those struggling with hunger,” said Three Square President and CEO Brian Burton. “As this community continues to heal from the events of the past 18 months, it is so heartwarming to see how people continue to show up for their neighbors in need.”
Three Square estimates that nearly 364,000 valley residents don’t know where their next meal is coming from, including more than 131,000 children. The charity says that 3 meals can be provided for every $1 donated.
From volunteering and donating to hosting virtual food drives, there was no shortage of ways to get involved during Hunger Action Month. The Fill the Plate Community-wide Virtual Food Drive presented by Boyd Gaming Corporation returned this year. The initiative provided community members the opportunity to donate all month long, contributing more than 304,000 meals to the effort.
In addition, Three Square teamed up with Hunger Related Events and Audacy’s KMXB-94.1 FM, KXQQ-100.5 FM and KXNT-840 AM on Sept. 16 and 17 to fight hunger across the valley with the entirely virtual “4 Corners Food Drive,” which contributed an additional 210,000 meals.
