Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – After nearly three years of restrictions, drivers will finally get a fifth lane back on I-15 and Tropicana later this week.

That comes with a bit of a price, though.

The I-15/Tropicana interchange rebuild has been going on for close to three years, with arguably the biggest headache being that both sides of 15 have been reduced to four lanes at Tropicana 24/7. Come Friday morning, the Nevada Department of Transportation says that a fifth lane will open in both directions.

Before that happens, though, there will be a couple of full closures that will affect drivers in the overnight hours.

Wednesday night between 9pm and 5am, 15 South will be closed between Flamingo and Russell. Then overnight Thursday, 15 North will be closed between the Southern Beltway and Flamingo.

The return of a fifth lane on 15 at Tropicana marks another milestone in the project. Recently, a new flyover ramp opened that takes drivers from 15 South to eastbound Tropicana, with Tropicana widened to 4 lanes in each direction over I-15.
