Impairment suspected in crash that critically injured two

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Two people were critically hurt in a 3-car wreck on Thursday night that police believe was caused by an impaired driver.

The crash happened around 8:30 at the intersection of Durango and Sunset. Police say a driver was southbound on Durango waiting for the light to turn green when another vehicle approached at a high rate of speed and slammed into the back of their car.

The car was hit with such force that it was was directed through the intersection, hitting a third vehicle.

Police say they believed that the driver of the car that started the chain- reaction crash was impaired. He, and the driver he hit, were both taken to a hospital and were last listed in critical condition. The driver of the third car was not hurt.

The investigation of the crash caused the intersection to be closed for close to 10 hours. The names of those involved haven't yet been released.
