Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The attorney for the man who seen on video attacking a judge in a Las Vegas courtroom back in January says his client is not guilty by reason of insanity.
The plea for Deobra Redden was entered Thursday morning, with the judge setting a trial date of April 29th.
In the video that’s been seen around the world, back on January 3rd, Redden is seen jumping over the judge’s bench and attacking judge Mary Kay Houlthis as she was about to pronounce sentence. Court officials eventually overpowered Redden, who was later indicted on charges related to the attack.
Redden’s attorney stated that though his client takes medication for schizophrenia, he had not taken meds on the day of the attack.
Redden will remain jailed up until the start of his trial.
