Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Smoke was seen across the valley on Monday morning due to a fire that broke out at Wetlands Park near Sam Boyd Stadium.

The fire, which was first reported around 9:30am, quickly grew, burning approximately 34 acres, with very strong winds fanning the flames.

What’s actually helped is that the southwest wind direction pushed the flames away from any structures, so all that’s been burned is brush.

Due to the potential for hot spots, the 210-acre Nature Preserve and trails surrounding the Wetlands Park Nature Center will be closed on Tuesday.

The cause of the fire isn’t yet known.
