Las Vegas Fire & Rescue announces monthlong recruiting event

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Department (LVFR) will be holding its next recruitment period between June 3rd and July 8th.

Recruitment is generally for entry-level candidates who meet the below minimum requirements:

· Possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application

· Minimum 18 years of age; no maximum age

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Meet fitness standards

Not required at time of application, the following desired enhancements to applications include:

· Current Nevada State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certificate

· Military veteran status

· Wildfire fighting experience

· Bilingual

· College-level coursework in fire science, fire administration or a related field

Interested candidates are encouraged to review the website and prepare now. Firefighter trainees are paid while participating in the Fire Academy training program.

LVFR invites those 14 and older to a community boot camp Sunday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at the lower parking lot of the Cashman Field Complex at 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. In anticipation of the firefighter recruitment that opens June 3, as well as an upcoming LVFR Explorer Program recruitment, community members are invited to meet LVFR staff, learn how to prepare for the firefighter academy and participate in a challenging workout with firefighters.
