
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Department (LVFR) will recruit for the next firefighter academy now through July 13th.
Interested candidates are encouraged to review the website and submit their applications. Firefighter trainees are paid while participating in the Fire Academy training program. Recruitment is generally for entry-level candidates who meet the minimum requirements below.
· Possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application.
· Minimum 18 years of age; no maximum age.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Meet fitness standards.
Not required at the time of application, the items listed below are desired enhancements to applications:
· Current Nevada State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certificate
· Military veteran status
· Wildfire fighting experience
· Bilingual
· College-level coursework in fire science, fire administration, or a related field.
Interested individuals are invited to meet LVFR staff, learn how to prepare for the firefighter academy, and participate in a challenging workout with firefighters. LVFR invites community members ages 14 and older to join firefighters for a community boot camp Sunday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Training Center at 633 N. Mojave Road.
