Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – With the price of gas at record levels, many have adjusted their summer vacation plans. The drive to the coast is too pricey, plane tickets are sky high. What’s a person or a family to do?

If you live in southern Nevada, the answer to that question might just be “Let’s go to Vegas”!
People save years to come to Vegas for a week, and a new survey from the financial website WalletHub says if Las Vegas residents want to save a little bit of money, we can take a vacation in the Entertainment Capital of the World – right here at home.
WalletHub ranked Las Vegas 6th on their list of ‘Best Places to Take a Staycation’, with top scores in the ‘Nightlife’, ‘Hiking trails per capita’, and ‘Ice cream and frozen yogurt shops per capita’ categories. We also scored high in the categories of ‘Parks’ (6th) and ‘Bike rental facilities’ (10th)
Cities ranked ahead of Las Vegas in the WalletHub survey – Honolulu topped the list, followed by Orlando, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, and Portland, Maine.
WalletHub ranked Pearl City, Hawaii as the worst staycation destination, but since it’s only 15 minutes from Honolulu, it’s not that big of a problem for those residents. Four California cities (Chula Vista, Moreno Valley, Rancho Cucamonga and Oxnard) round out the bottom five.
