Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Another historic piece of Las Vegas history will be closing its doors to make way for yet another major professional sports team.
Bally’s Corporation announced Monday that they would be closing the Tropicana Hotel and Casino at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana on Tuesday April 2nd.
The land that the Tropicana currently occupies will become the future home of a new stadium to house the Oakland Athletics.
While announcing the date of the closure, Bally’s did not say when the Tropicana towers will come down.
As it stands now, current plans have the ballpark built and ready to house a team for the 2028 season. Another hotel is also planned to be built adjacent to the site.
The Tropicana hotel first opened in April of 1957.
