Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Search and rescue personnel are looking for a local veterinarian went missing out at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area last weekend.
Authorities are searching for Dr. Shawn Frehner. Over the weekend, a video surfaced that showed Frehner kicking a horse in the head that was lying on the ground, and harassment grew online toward Frehner as the video went viral.
Frehner released a statement about the incident, saying his actions were misunderstood, but acknowledged the kick and apologized for it.
The incident happened in Pahrump, and Nye County authorities say they’re not ruling out filing animal abuse charges against Frehner when and if he’s found.
The National Park Service said the search involved both land and lake, but released little else in the case.
