Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The man accused of murdering his girlfriend's two-year-old son made an appearance in a Las Vegas court today, something the boy's mother will have to do soon, as well.

Terrell Rhodes has pled not guilty to killing little Amari Nicholson, but prosecutors Wednesday said they wouldn’t pursue the death penalty if Rhodes is convicted.

The boy was missing for more than a week before police say Rhodes confessed to killing the boy in a jailhouse interview, saying he struck the boy after he wet his pants. He was watching the boy for his girlfriend, Tayler Nicholson, who was out of state taking care of her mom.

Rhodes remains jailed without bail at CCDC.

Meanwhile, Nicholson was arrested this week at the MGM Grand on soliciting charges.

Investigators say Nicholson was busted after accepting money from undercover officers for sex. She also faces a weapons charge for carrying some brass knuckles in her purse.
