Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The suspect in a fatal shooting in front of the Bellagio Sunday night made his first court appearance on Tuesday.
During the brief appearance, a judge ordered 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz held without bail. He's due back in court on Thursday. Ruiz is charged with two counts of open murder
Las Vegas Metro Police say that officers were on routine patrol around 10:40pm on Sunday when they heard gunshots and headed to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found two victims. Those two, identified Tuesday as 42-year-old Rodney Finley and his wife, 42-year-old Tanisha Finley, died at the scene.
Monday morning, Ruiz turned himself in at a Henderson police station. Ruiz claims the shooting was self defense, but nothing in Metro's report about the case indicated that neither of the Finleys were armed at the time of the shooting.
Metro Police says that the the parties knew each other through their separate social media platforms and that there was a beef between Ruiz and Rodney Finley.
