A judge sentenced 24-year-old Rashawn Gaston-Anderson to 7 to 18 years behind bars for the shooting of Chengyan Wang, a waiter at the Shanghai Taste restaurant. Wang survived despite being shot a number of times.

Gaston-Anderson was initially declared incompetent to stand trial, but that decision was later reversed. Gaston-Anderson then agreed to a plea deal where he pleaded guilty in October to reduced charges of attempted robbery with the use of a deadly weapon and mayhem.

Initially, Gaston-Anderson was charged with attempted murder, robbery, and battery charges.
