
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A man took a woman hostage at Caesars Palace Tuesday, leading to an hour-long standoff that forced the evacuation of the hotel’s pool area.
The incident began just after 9am. Metro says a man took a woman from a hallway and locked himself in a room. He proceeded to break the window inside his room and threw several items to the ground. The room faces the pool, so out of an abundance caution, the pool area was evacuated.
Around 2:45, Metro announced that the man had been taken into custody, and the woman was safe. 35-year-old Matthew Mannix is due to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon. He face a host of charges that include kidnapping.
