Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A massive fire broke out at an under-construction apartment complex in the southwest valley Tuesday afternoon, continuing to burn into the early morning hours on Wednesday.

The fire, near Buffalo and 215, was first reported around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon. It quickly grew to such intensity that closures and restrictions were put on place along the 215 Beltway due to thick smoke and low visibility.

Winds hampered firefighting efforts as crews struggled to put the fire down. After seemingly getting control of the blaze, it reignited late Tuesday. Residents of apartment complexes nearby were evacuated as a precaution.

The fire continued to smolder throughout the day on Thursday, and that's expected to continue for another couple of days. Investigators don’t know yet what caused the fire. No serious injuries were reported.
